Towpath Haiku met on November 8th. In attendance were 8 members as well as 2 prospective members. As is typical, there was a lively discussion of announcements and updates. This included welcoming the new members, the recently published Towpath anthology “Something Left”, dues owed for 2026 membership, and more frequent updates to the Towpath website. Additionally, several Towpath members attended HNA in September and shared further updates on that meeting. The group also discussed the idea of adding ‘topical talks’ in 2026, to be on various haiku techniques and topics, and agreed to try this in the upcoming January meeting, in which a Towpath member will lead a 15-minute discussion on a topic at the start of the meeting. The remainder of the meeting was dedicated to sharing and workshopping poems.

The next meeting will be held January 10th, 2026, at 1pm EST. Interested in attending? Towpath membership is open to haiku poets of all levels of experience living in the National Capital Region. Contact Matt Snyder at snyder.matt@gmail.com to learn more.
